Local chief executives and major business groups expressed their full support for President Marcos this week, with provincial governors, city mayors, and key industry leaders affirming stability and cooperation despite ongoing political issues, Malacañang said.
In a press release, the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) led the show of support during a courtesy call in Malacañan Palace on Thursday, Nov. 20, where President Marcos stressed that there was “too much work to be done” to be distracted by political noise.
During the meeting, LPP president South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. handed the President a General Assembly resolution issued on Nov. 18, declaring the governors’ full support for the administration.
The resolution also committed member-provinces to defend the presidency from “adversaries of the Constitution, democracy and good governance.”
Marcos thanked the governors and underscored the need for stronger national–local collaboration to address people’s concerns.
He also told LPP officials that more developments in the investigation into anomalous flood control projects would be made public in due course.
Business groups cite long-term confidence
In a separate joint statement issued Nov. 17, major business groups affirmed their support for the country’s economic direction under Marcos.
They vowed to continue investing, expanding industries, creating jobs, and strengthening the economy’s productive capacity.
“In a time of increased uncertainty, our message is clear: the private sector remains united in its belief in the Philippines’ long-term potential,” the groups said.
The statement was issued by FINEX, the Institute of Corporate Directors, the Makati Business Club, the Management Association of the Philippines, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Philippine Finance Association.
City mayors' support
Meanwhile, the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) also reiterated on Nov. 19 its support for Marcos and his governance priorities.
“We stand behind his commitment to further empower LGUs in advancing public infrastructure, education, and health services, while upholding transparency and accountability in public governance,” the LCP said.
