Digital transactions coursed through Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) exceeded ₱3 trillion in value in the first nine months of the year, rising from ₱2.31 trillion in the same period last year.
Data from the state-run bank showed that the ₱3.14 trillion in digital transactions recorded as of end-September translates to over 550 million transactions processed during the period.
Landbank’s mobile banking app continued to drive client adoption, accounting for the majority—or nearly 90 percent—of total transaction volume, with over 492.4 million transactions.
In terms of value, transactions through the mobile banking app reached ₱418.4 billion, accounting for about 13.3 percent of the year-to-date figure. This represents a 38 percent increase from ₱303.2 billion in the same period last year.
Landbank’s online retail banking platform, iAccess, handled transactions valued at ₱11.9 billion, while its web-based payment service, Link.BizPortal processed ₱12.3 billion worth of payments.
Institutional clients drove significant gains through the weAccess platform, which handled transactions valued at ₱1.29 trillion, jumping 37 percent from around ₱940 billion a year ago.
These transactions account for 41.1 percent of the total value for the nine-month period.
Of the weAccess transactions, ATM payroll transactions contributed ₱266.7 billion. Landbank said this reinforces weAccess as a primary payroll platform for both public- and private-sector clients.
Government disbursements through the Electronic Modified Disbursement System (eMDS) climbed to ₱1.14 trillion, up 40 percent from ₱810 billion a year earlier.
Through its LANDBANKasama agent banking network, the bank posted ₱11.7 billion in transactions, a 14 percent increase from around ₱10.3 billion last year, as it broadens financial access in underserved areas nationwide.
Landbank’s e-Tax Payment System (eTPS) handled ₱132.9 billion in transactions, up 16 percent from last year’s ₱114.6 billion.
The new Value-Added Tax (VAT) on Digital Services (VDS) portal, co-developed by Landbank and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), processed ₱1.9 billion in transactions in its first year of operation.
Additionally, the Landbank Bulk Credit System (LBCS), primarily for batch disbursements, handled ₱52.4 billion in transactions, up six percent from last year’s ₱49.4 billion. Meanwhile, the Landbank Remittance System (LBRS) processed ₱58.3 billion in transactions, marking an 11 percent increase from last year’s ₱52.5 billion.
Landbank Executive Vice President Leila C. Martin said the bank’s digital transformation focuses on making services more secure and inclusive. She added that system upgrades aim to improve the bank’s services, not just compete with other players in the financial system.
