TACLOBAN CITY — A 30-year-old police corporal was mauled and his service firearm was carted away by four individuals in a KTV bar in Barangay Talolora, Palapag town, Northern Samar province, before dawn on Thursday, Nov. 20.
Police said the victim and two companions arrived at the bar where the suspects were already drinking.
The suspects, allegedly intoxicated, approached the police officer’s table and provoked a confrontation.
One suspect grabbed the victim’s firearm. The gun discharged twice as the police officer resisted. The other suspects struck him in the face with a beer bottle. The suspects fled with the firearm.
Responding officers encountered the victim near the bar.
The victim who was bleeding and without an upper garment flagged down the patrol vehicle and requested immediate medical assistance.
Two suspects were apprehended at the scene.
They were taken to the Rural Health Unit (RHU) in Palapag for medical evaluation before being transferred to the Palapag Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Investigation is ongoing.
