Mayor Rhe Ynares, Vice Mayor Russel Ynares and the municipal council members, led the lighting ceremony of the eco-friendly 40-foot Christmas tree at the municipal quadrangle- an annual tradition among all the 14 localities in Rizal Province.
With the traditional switching on of lights ceremony, residents and officials gathered around the holiday tree, which is made of hundreds of discarded plastic containers and other trash materials, including plastic straws, fish nets, and bamboo poles that are made into the agricultural and aquatic resources from Laguna Lake.
A colorful fireworks display lit up the night sky during the event that was attended by Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares, Vice Gov. Josefina Gatlabayan and other provincial government officials.
Mayor Ynares said the blue-themed Christmas tree, adorned with bamboo, boat, and net designs, symbolized the town's identity as a hardworking and resilient community. The tree's design also paid tribute to the town's connection to Laguna Lake, representing peace and hope.
Mayor Ynares said the event served as a reminder that even in the face of challenges, the community remains strong and united.
The Binangonan local officials said the Christmas tree stands as a beacon of hope and a reminder that each individual has the power to make a difference in their community.
The giant Christmas tree display complements the nearby food and non food bazaar booths and the weekend electrifying live performances to spice up the town’ s holiday celebration.
The bazaar dubbed as ‘Paskuhan sa Binangonan’ features various foods and drinks for visitors such as grilled chicken, rice meals, milk teas, fruit teas, and coffee drinks. Sweet treats also abound, making it a perfect opportunity to stock up on pasalubong for loved ones.
Shoppers can also indulge in a wide range of non-food items, including apparel, accessories, toys, and giveaways. Some stalls will also offer engraving services and essential appliances like electric fans, lights, and kitchen equipment, a venue for those looking for Christmas gift items.
