Toyota is not quite done with its surprises. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has confirmed that the GR Corolla will be previewed on December 17, and that reservations are now open through GR Performance dealerships and the company’s online registration page. No pricing has been announced at this time.

With its arrival, Toyota strengthens its performance portfolio, with more driver-focused products to Filipino buyers. The Gazoo Racing lineup is already quite broad with the GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR86, along with several GR-Sport variants across its mainstream range. The confirmation of the GR Corolla is perhaps the most anticipated icing on the cake. 

The announcement was made through Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines’ official social media channels, accompanied by a dark teaser image showing the silhouette of the high-performance hatchback. It follows multiple international reports and growing interest from local enthusiasts. 

The GR Corolla carries a technical package that has earned strong reviews in global markets. It is powered by the G16E-GTS 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, the same unit found in the GR Yaris but tuned to produce 304-PS and 400-Nm of torque. This output is managed by a six-speed manual transmission and the GR-Four all-wheel drive system, which allows torque distribution adjustments to suit different road or track conditions. The configuration is designed to give the hatchback strong mechanical grip and a more direct connection between driver and machine.

Toyota engineered the GR Corolla with extensive chassis reinforcement., including additional weld points, structural adhesives, and a stiffer body overall compared to the standard Corolla hatchback. The wider track front and rear improves stability, while the prominent fender extensions create space for the larger wheels and performance tires. The model also adopts a functional aerodynamic package that includes a redesigned front bumper, cooling vents, and the distinctive triple-exit exhaust layout developed to reduce backpressure.

Cabin equipment is oriented toward performance driving. Global models feature supportive sport seats, a digital instrument cluster, and a layout that prioritizes driver control. The Philippine configuration has yet to be detailed, but the mechanical specifications are expected to closely follow the international release. Toyota’s worldwide approach to the GR lineup favors consistency across markets, and this philosophy is likely to carry over.

With the December 17 preview scheduled, more information including pricing and final local specifications is expected in the coming weeks. Interested buyers can already register their intent through the brand’s GR Performance dealerships and online platforms as Toyota Motor Philippines prepares to expand its high-performance offerings once again.
