BACOLOD CITY – A 46-year-old former policeman was arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle owned by a teenager in Barangay Cabug here on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Police Capt. Andro Ma-apni, Bacolod City Police Office spokesperson, said the suspect chanced upon the motorcycle parked outside the victim’s house.
However, the victim noticed the sound of his motorcycle and caught the suspect carting it away.
Ma-apni said the victim reported the incident to the village security guard who apprehended the suspect after confirming the description of the stolen motorcycle at the exit gate.
Police arrested the suspect, who was charged with violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016. He is detained at Police Station 9.
Ma-apni said the suspect entered the police service in 2010 and was dismissed due to numerous offenses committed such as physical injuries and theft related to motorcycle parts.
