Bulacan police arrested two individuals in Barangay Partida, Norzagaray, on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 19, during their ongoing campaign against illegal firecracker manufacturing in the province.
According to the police report, the suspects were identified as alias Ken, 21, and alias Nancy, 52, both residents of Pulong Yantok, Angat, Bulacan.
The suspects were caught in the act of making firecrackers and sparklers.
Although concerned citizens in the area had already reported that the suspects did not have permits to manufacture fireworks, the authorities still asked them to present documents. The two, however, failed to show any authorization.
Recovered from the suspects were five bundles of sparklers with 100 pieces each; 66 pieces of sparklers with sticks; 253 pieces of sparklers without sticks; 14 bundles of sticks for sparklers; two tape dispensers; 19 bundles of unfinished firecracker fuses (mitsa), and 1/4 sack of thread for making fuses.
The suspects and the confiscated evidence were brought to the Norzagaray Police Station, where the appropriate case is being prepared for violation of RA 7183, also known as the Firecrackers Law of the Philippines.
