The Pre-Trial Chamber I (PTC I) of the International Criminal Court (ICC) released a summary of decisions and orders issued by way of email on the crimes against humanity case against former president Rodrigo Duterte to the Office of the Prosecution, the Office of Public Counsel for Victims, and the defense team.
The issuances were for the period of August to October 2025.
The summary was released by “noting the principle of publicity of the proceedings derived from article 67(1) of the Rome Statute, rule 15 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence, and regulation 8 of the Regulations of the Court.”
However, the chamber said that names and email addresses have been redacted from the public versions for “security reasons.”
There are 33 Annexes to the report, which included decisions from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31.
The five-page report was signed by PTC I Presiding Judge Iulia Antoanella Motoc and Judges Reine Adélaïde Sophie Alapini-Gansou and María del Socorro Flores Liera.
The PTC I is currently waiting for the medical report by a panel of experts on the former president’s fitness to stand trial after this was used by the defense team as a reason to request for the suspension of the Sept. 23 confirmation of charges hearing.
Duterte’s lawyers are also requesting for the adjournment of all legal proceedings against the former leader because of his alleged declining cognitive abilities.
The medical team has been given a deadline of Dec. 5 to submit its report, while the defense, the prosecution, and the victims’ counsel can file any observation on the panel’s report no later than Dec. 12.
The former president is facing crimes against humanity of charges for the thousands of extrajudicial killings during his administration’s war on drugs campaign.
Duterte was arrested on March 11 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 upon arriving from Hong Kong. He was sent on the same day to The Hague on the basis of an ICC arrest warrant.
