Celebrity couple Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin win at 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards
Korean stars and real-life couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin won the acting awards at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards held on Nov. 19.
The 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony was held at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul and hosted by actors Han Ji-min and Lee Je-hoon.
This year’s awards included 154 Korean films released between Oct. 11, 2024, and Oct. 7 this year.
The initial nominees were selected through a survey of film industry professionals and online voting, and the final winners and winning films were selected through a panel of eight judges and online voting.
Hyun Bin won best actor for his movie “Harbin” while Son Ye-jin won best actress for “No Other Choice,” becoming the first married couple to win the acting awards together.
In his acceptance speech, Hyun Bin said, "I am able to stand here today thanks to the countless people who dedicated themselves to protecting our country. When I was first offered the role, I declined because I didn't have the confidence to handle it, but thanks to director Woo Min-ho, who guided me to the end, I was able to pull this off."
"I love my wife Ye-jin, whose mere presence gives me strength, and our son so much,” he said.
Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin became a couple after starring in the hit series “Crash Landing on You.” They got married on March 31, 2022 and Son Ye-jin gave birth to their first baby, a son, on Nov. 27, 2022.
Son Ye-jin said, "I always prepare a speech for every nomination, but I wasn't able to prepare one this time. I first won best actress at the Blue Dragon Film Awards when I was 27, and it's been over 10 years since then, so I'm overwhelmed to be standing here again."
"I feel like my perspective on the world has changed since I got married and became a mother. I want to become a good adult and remain a good actress for a long time.. I will share this joy with my two beloved men, Kim Tae-pyung (Hyun Bin), and our baby, Kim Woo-jin,” she said.
Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin also won the popularity award.
"I'm even happier to receive it together with my husband,” said Son Ye-jin while Hyun Bin replied, "It's been a long time since we've stood on stage together, so I think it will be an unforgettable memory."
“No Other Choice” won best film. It is South Korea’s entry to the Best International Feature Film category for the 98th Academy Awards.
