BFP personnel, retirees, dependents to receive 50% off in eye care services

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has sealed a partnership with the Eye Can Philippines that will provide 50 percent discounts for eye health services to its personnel, retirees and their dependents nationwide.
In a statement, the BFP said that the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) underscores the shared commitment of both institutions to deliver accessible and quality healthcare, reinforcing the bureau’s continued efforts to support the welfare of its uniformed and non-uniformed members.
The BFP has also pushed forward towards a more unified and technology-driven approach to fire safety as the demand for stricter compliance and smarter fire safety systems grows nationwide.
Bringing key officials and front-line implementers, the Fire Safety Enforcement Summit 2025 was held to assess the current landscape of the Fire Safety Inspection System (FSIS) and strengthen enforcement strategies.
The BFP asserted that the summit aims to align strategies, sharpen enforcement capabilities, and reinforce a more consistent, transparent, and responsive fire safety enforcement framework that ultimately leads to safer communities and stronger nationwide compliance with the fire code.
At the same time, the BFP reiterated its public caution against the supposed well-connected unscrupulous groups demanding cash from prospective applicants in exchange for facilitating their entry in the bureau.
In its “Recruitment Anti-Scam Campaign,’’ the BFP insisted that there is absolutely no truth to the “Fire Officer 1 Positions for Sale’’ scam offered by individuals pretending to have strong links with the bureau’s top brass.
The BFP appealed to the public to contact “SMART: 0920 254 3499, E-mail: [email protected]’’ for any “BFP Recruitment Scams.’’
In the past, the BFP said it also received various fire extinguisher and fire equipment sale and endorsement complaints this year.
As a precautionary measure against the malpractice, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic’’ Remulla noted that BFP inspectors will be required to wear body cameras starting 2026 in a bid to prevent the illegal sale or endorsement of fire extinguishers.
“Ngayon, may memorandum circular na kami. Starting next year, nagpa-requisition ako ng 5,000 body cams. Tapos magkaka-system kami. Kasi 'yung mga fire inspector natin, napaka-notorious sa pagbenta ng fire extinguisher (Now, we have a memorandum circular. Starting next year, I will requisition 5,000 body cams. Then we will have a system, since our fire inspectors are notorious for selling fire extinguishers),’’ Remulla said.
If there are any complaints against the BFP inspectors, Remulla said that they will know how the conversation with the concerned business establishment personnel went along.
