Bank messenger nabbed for stealing P650K cash in Makati
A 38-year-old bank messenger was arrested by the Makati City Police for stealing P650,000, which he used for online gambling, on Wednesday, Nov. 19, the Southern Police District (SPD) said.
The police identified the suspect as "Jessie," a resident of Barangay 12 in Caloocan City.
Based on the police report, Jessie was tasked by his bank manager boss to deposit P1,050,000 into her account. During the supposed delivery of the funds, the victim and her colleagues lost contact with the suspect.
After multiple attempts to reach him, the suspect eventually responded to the victim's calls and claimed that he was at a gasoline station along Filmore Street in Barangay Palanan, Makati City.
He later admitted to taking P650,000 from the entrusted amount and depositing it into his personal bank account to play online card games, prompting the victim to quickly report the incident to the authorities.
Arresting police officers recovered the remaining P400,000 from the suspect's possession.
Jessie remains under police custody and is now facing qualified theft charges.
