CEBU Archbishop Alberto Uy has released a statement on his Facebook page inviting Cebuanos to join the Walk for Integrity and Good Governance on Nov. 30.
CEBU CITY – The Archdiocese of Cebu will lead the Walk for Integrity and Good Governance on Nov. 30.
Though no concrete details have been released yet, Cebu Archbishop Alberto Uy urged the public to join the activity.
“To all peace-loving Cebuanos, please join us this Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, for Our Walk for Integrity and Good Governance starting at 2 p.m.,” said Uy in his social media account.
The activity in Cebu will coincide with the Trillion Peso March Movement that will be held at the People Power Monument in Quezon City.
Cardinal Pablo David, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and bishop of Kalookan, urged the public to join anti-corruption movements.
The movement in Cebu will be held more than two weeks after it was devastated by typhoon ‘’Tino.’’ At least 50 people died and more than 40 remain missing.
Some areas in Cebu are still isolated after bridges were destroyed and roads were blocked by boulders due to landslides.
Due to the massive damage caused by the typhoon, flood control projects in Cebu were placed under close scrutiny.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon recently visited Cebu and inspected several flood control projects.
Dizon said the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and DPWH are in the process of validating some P50 billion in flood control projects in Cebu from 2016 to 2025.
The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) has created a special investigation task group (SITG) to determine why Cebu sustained severe damage from the typhoon.
The SITG is also looking into the possible liability of government officials who may be behind substandard flood control projects.
