Scattered rains to prevail over parts of PH in next 24 hours — PAGASA
Scattered rains will affect several parts of the country within the next 24 hours due to four prevailing weather systems, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
PAGASA said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), or the area where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet and often generate rain clouds, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
The shear line, which forms when cold and warm air masses collide, will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte.
The northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will bring cloudy skies with rains over Batanes and Ilocos Norte.
PAGASA added that the rest of Mindanao may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ, while the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Ilocos Region may experience isolated light rains because of the amihan.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
