The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) threw its full support for and trust on President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his administration amid destabilization concerns and corruption allegations.
"The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) reiterates its full support for the leadership of His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the duly constitutionally elected President of the Republic of the Philippines. We stand behind his commitment to further empower local government units (LGUs) in advancing public infrastructure, education, and health services, while upholding transparency and accountability in public governance," LCP National President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said in a statement.
"As cities, we remain steadfast in fulfilling our mandate to serve the Filipino people and pursue programs that uplift communities. We are committed to aligning our efforts with the President’s initiatives and to keeping our focus on our shared mission of building a just, progressive, and resilient nation," he added.
The league issued the statement following calls from other politicians and groups for Marcos' resignation amid the ongoing probe on the anomalous flood control projects across the country and other government corruption claims.
The mayor stressed the LCP continues to strengthen the coordination and cooperation between cities in the country and the national government in the creation of programs and initiatives that will improve the lives of Filipinos.
