KISLAP: UP Interior Design students ignite sparks by redesigning Learner-Centered Spaces for young Filipino learners
By MBrand
Dedicating their creativity in compassion and servitude, the University of the Philippines – Diliman BS Interior Design Class of 2026, under the College of Home Economics, presents KISLAP: Ang Kabanata ng Kabataan. This project features the continued legacy of the ID 179 Special Project in Interior Design, presenting the collaboration of design skills and knowledge that each student has developed over the past 3 years of learning — putting all their talent and hard work in making safer and more abundant spaces for children to develop their young minds.
Project KISLAP aims to improve the spatial experience of the core members of PAUW UP CSC, a humble and nurturing preschool located within the UP Diliman Campus, serving around 370 students from ages 2 to 6 years old. The institution advocates for nationalistic, inclusive, and environmentally conscious education as they help to foster literacy, creativity, and social skills upon each learner. With this, the UP BSID Class of 2026 is committed to add spark to their mission by redesigning selected learning areas at PAUW UP CSC, namely, the Admin Office and Reception, the Faculty and Storage Room, the Senior Nursery Classroom, the Care Corner, and the Library.
In order to ignite the spark of love and care in these spaces, the Project KISLAP will be holding a Fundraising Event for their special project on November 22,2025 at UP Town Center. They will be hosting a movie screening of Wicked: For Good at 3:30 PM to help fun and complete their cause for the children. Aligned with the line, "We can't let good be just a word. It has to mean something,” the UP BSID Class of 2026 intends to design for the good of all.
With all of these in mind, the special project is mainly possible through the collaboration of the students, beneficiary, donors and to those who are sponsoring and partnering with their advocacy — igniting and spreading positive change.
In order to help them in creating and keeping sparks in our community, you may support their cause by donating or taking part in UP BSID 2026’s Fundraising (11/22/2025) & Turnover event (12/12/2025).
