BENITEZ
BACOLOD CITY – The Visayan Bloc called on government colleagues and the public to look past political drama and distractions and declared their strong support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid ongoing corruption controversies.
“We urged everyone to unite behind the reforms that strengthen the institutions, restore the people’s trust, and deliver real change,” Bacolod Rep. Albee Benitez shared in a social media post.
According to Benitez, the fight against corruption transcends any single person, administration, or party and is a national effort that must continue.
“When a President confronts corruption at this scale, resistance is inevitable. And so is the duty of those who profess to serve the people: To stand firm, to stay focused, and to finish the work started by the President,” he said.
The bloc reaffirmed their confidence in the President’s anti-corruption campaign, with Benitez stressing that good governance is a moral imperative, not a partisan agenda.
Benitez said that Marcos has been the target of political attacks designed to divert attention from the real work the administration is pursuing.
“We stand with the President because they stand with every Filipino who deserves honesty, transparency, and accountability in public service,” he added.
He said that the Visayan Bloc remains committed to partnering with the administration to help ensure this moment becomes a defining step toward honest and principled governance.
Former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co accused Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez of involvement in alleged P100-billion insertions in the 2025 budget.
Marcos, during a recent visit to Negros Occidental, dismissed the accusations, saying he preferred not to give weight to Co’s claims.
