QC gov't flags financial aid distribution in Matandang Balara
(Quezon City government)
The Quezon City government clarified that Mayor Joy Belmonte did not distribute livelihood aid in Barangay Matandang Balara.
In a statement released on Monday night, Nov. 17, the LGU condemned the distribution of false livelihood aid.
“Walang katotohanan ang kumalat na balita na namahagi ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Quezon City at si Mayor Joy Belmonte ng tulong pangkabuhayang nagkakahalaga na P15,000 sa mga residente ng Barangay Matandang Balara sa Barangay Hall (There is no truth to the rumor that the Quezon City Government and Mayor Joy Belmonte distributed livelihood assistance worth P15,000 to residents of Barangay Matandang Balara at the Barangay Hall),” it said.
A report was received by the authorities indicating that the payout was allegedly facilitated with the assistance of several barangay officials.
The beneficiaries were reportedly asked to return P12,000 from the P15,000 they received after picture taking.
Officials also clarified that the payout was not linked to any program of the Quezon City Government.
“Ang nasabing payout ay hindi programa ng Quezon City Government at ito ay isinagawa umano ng isang party-list group (The said payout was not a program of the Quezon City Government and was allegedly carried out by a party-list group),” it said.
The city government reminded residents to verify information from relevant authorities.
“Muli, pinapaalalahanan namin ang ating mga QCitizen na maging mapanuri sa mga natatanggap na impormasyon (Once again, we remind our QCitizens to be critical of the information they receive),” it said.
