Deputy Speaker Antipolo City 1st district Rep. Ronaldo "Ronnie" Puno has denied reports that he will be replacing Isabela 6th district Rep. Faustino "Bojie" Dy III as House Speaker.
"Not true," Puno told House of Representatives reporters in a message on Tuesday, Nov. 18 when asked point-blank about the veracity of the rumor.
"I continue to support Speaker Bojie," said Puno, chairman of the National Unity Party (NUP).
The NUP is the second largest party in the 300-plus strong House of Representatives next only to the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).
Puno was a staunch supporter former House Speaker Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez. Dy replaced Romualdez when the latter resigned as Speaker last Sept. 17.
Romualdez sits as president of Lakas-CMD, while Dy is President Marcos' party-mate over at Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
The Lakas-CMD and NUP are vital cogs in the PFP-led administration coalition.
