Muntinlupa police arrest 3 suspects for carnapping, illegal firearm
Police arrested three people for stealing a motorcycle and illegal firearm possession in Muntinlupa on Nov. 17.
The incident was reported by the victim, Alias Marc Airone, 31, a resident of a subdivision in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City, after his motorcycle was stolen from his garage at around 3:20 a.m. on Nov. 17.
Arrested by the police were alias Russel, 22, a resident of Pulang Lupa Uno, Las Piñas City; alias Kristine Cheyne, 28, a resident of Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa; and alias Ginamie, 26, a resident of Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa.
Investigation revealed the victim parked the motorcycle in their garage. He was awakened by the barking of their dogs in the garage.
When he looked outside, he saw three people, one male and two females, aboard a motorcycle. He did not react when he saw the male individual armed with a gun alight from the motorcycle, enter the gate and took his motorcycle.
The suspect and his two companions fled. He immediately ran outside the house and saw the plate number attached to the motorcycle driven by the female suspects.
He reported the incident to the Muntinlupa police’s Putatan Substation. A follow-up operation resulted in the recovery of the motorcycle in Marikina and the arrest of the suspects.
During the arrest, the police also seized from Russel a .22-caliber firearm.
The suspects are under police custody and will face a complaint for violations of Republic Act 10883 (The New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo, acting district director of the Southern Police District, said, "This successful operation is a clear indication of our commitment to deterring street crime and protecting the safety of our communities. The decisive action taken by the Putatan police Sub-station 2, led to the swift recovery of the stolen property and the arrest of these perpetrators."
