BACOLOD CITY – A 50-year-old man allegedly hacked his 39-year-old stepson to death following a misunderstanding over a fence in Purok Palangga, Barangay Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Monday, Nov. 17.
Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., Kabankalan police chief, said the victim Edcel allegedly cut the bamboo fence blocking his way to their house.
The victim Delmar saw the broken fence and asked his wife and was irked after he was told that Edcel did it.
Edcel’s mother later on saw the suspect holding a bladed weapon walking towards the barangay health center.
She discovered her son injured and sprawled on the ground and sought the assistance of a barangay councilor.
Edcel was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. The suspect was also taken to a hospital for injuries during a commotion.
Indiape said they are awaiting the decision of the victim’s family if they will charge the suspect.
