The body of a 15-year-old Boy Scout was recovered on Monday, Nov. 17, in Binagbag, Angat, Bulacan.
He drowned in the Bakas River, Barangay Matictic, Norzagaray on Friday, Nov. 7, sparking a 10-day search by rescuers from Norzagaray and the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
The victim was identified as Bryant James “Bornok” Divina, assistant senior crew leader of North Hills Village High School in Norzagaray.
His family expressed gratitude to all who assisted in the search.
Rescue efforts were hampered by strong currents from dam releases, murky waters, and poor visibility.
Divers, boats, and drones were deployed, but the search proved difficult until water levels subsided.
The MDRRMO stressed they did not neglect their duties and reminded parents to monitor their children’s safety.
The Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Bulacan Council extended condolences, remembering Divina as a dedicated Scout whose kindness and commitment will be cherished by his family, friends, and the Scouting community.
