The Kapamilya belter, now celebrating her 15th year in showbiz, leads and co-produces the new drama-thriller "Ang Happy Homes ni Diane Hilario," directed by acclaimed filmmaker Marlon Rivera. The project marks a major turning point for Angeline, who expressed gratitude for being entrusted with the title character.
"Ang Happy Homes ni Diane Hilario" takes audiences into a joyful tenement community that begins to unravel after a series of mysterious deaths.
The film shows how far neighbors will go to protect themselves and each other after developing fear and distrust among themselves. Angeline stars as Diane Hilario alongside Eugene Domingo, Richard Yap, Paolo Contis, and Luis Alandy.
Reflecting on her acting journey, Angeline said she is drawn to stories and characters with emotional depth. “Kasi syempre kung gagawa tayo ng pelikula, gusto ko naman yung may kabuluhan." (Of course, if I’m going to make a film, I want it to have meaning.)
Being relatable is also important to her. “Kasi ang hirap naman kung hindi mo pa napagdaanan (It’s hard if you haven’t gone through it yourself.),” she added.

Despite her success as a singer, Angeline admitted she still blushes when people refer to her as an actress.
“Kinikilig ako,” she said. “Kinikilig ako pag sinasabi nila, hindi lang singer si Angeline, artista din. Ewan ko, nakakakilig yun. (I get giddy. I get giddy when people say Angeline isn’t just a singer, she’s an actress too.)"
That happiness fuels her drive to improve and take on more challenging film roles. She shared that her ultimate dream definitely goes beyond singing.
“Alam niyo ba, sa totoo lang, dream ko kasi talaga na maging best actress,” she revealed.
“Wala namang masama kung mangarap ka. Di ba sabi nila kung mangarap ka, lakihan mo na yung pangarap mo.”(Honestly, my real dream is to become a Best Actress. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming. Because as they say, if you’re going to dream, dream big.)
Angeline recalled that early in her career, a director once asked her what she wanted to achieve beyond being a professional singer. When she answered that she dreamed of being named the Best Actress, the director laughed.

“Tapos tinawanan niya ako. Oh my God,” she said. “Siguro para sa kanya, joke yun bilang kilala niya ako na lagi ako nagpapatawa, pero yung determination ko nandoon. (And then he laughed at me, as if I was joking. But my determination is there.)"
Far from being discouraged, the moment ignited something in Angeline. “Hindi naman din ako titigil hanggat hindi ko maabot yung dream ko. (I'm not going to stop until I reach my dream.)"
When asked what genres she hopes to explore next, Angeline's face lit up. “Superhero,” she answered without hesitation.
She said she dreams of playing a superhero who represents the strength of Filipino mothers. Angeline observed that many mothers she meets feel unseen or undervalued.
“Minsan may nakikilala akong mga nanay na feeling nila wala silang silbi. Sabi ko, hindi. Bilang nanay, makabuluhan ka talaga. (Sometimes I meet mothers who feel like they’re useless…and I tell them, no. As a mother, you really matter)," said Angeline, who's now a doting mom to Sylvio and Sylvia.
Produced by Angeline with KreativDen Entertainment "Ang Happy Homes ni Diane Hilario" is showing in cinemas nationwide starting Dec. 3.
