Surge of 'amihan' may affect parts of Luzon on Nov. 18 — PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a surge of the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” may affect parts of Northern and Central Luzon starting Tuesday, Nov. 18.
As of Monday, Nov. 17, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Batanes, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino were experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the amihan.
PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said the surge is likely to lower air temperatures over much of Luzon in the coming days.
From Tuesday to Wednesday, Nov. 18 to 19, scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over southern Mindanao and the eastern parts of Luzon and Visayas.
From Thursday to Friday, Nov. 20 to 21, Northern Luzon will experience cloudy skies with rains, while Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region may have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.
The rest of the country is expected to have generally fair weather apart from isolated thunderstorms throughout the four-day period.
Villamil said no tropical cyclone is expected to enter or develop within the Philippine area of responsibility in the next three to five days.
