Car splits in half during high-speed crash in Taytay, 4 hurt
A white Honda Civic EG hatchback was split in half after its driver lost control and crashed into a lamp post and a huge gate in Taytay, Rizal, causing injuries to the driver and three bystanders early Sunday morning, Nov. 16.
The incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. along Manila East Road, according to PSMS Nerissa Sulit of the Taytay Municipal Police.
Based on the police investigation, the vehicle was caught on CCTV speeding before crashing into the lamp post and hitting the gate of an establishment.
Due to the impact, the car was split in half, with its rear axle snapping off from its main chassis.
The car's debris also hit three bystanders who suffered from minor injuries and were quickly brought to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver remains unconscious and under medical observation at a local hospital.
