ILOILO CITY – Ten different schools in this city and the province of Iloilo received bomb threats on Monday, Nov. 17.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) still have to identify people responsible behind these bomb threats that disrupted classes and caused massive traffic jams.
Almost all bomb threats were made online and used fake Facebook accounts.
The first bomb threat was made at Iloilo National High School (INHS) in Iloilo City before 2 a.m.
The main campus of West Visayas State University (WVSU), across INHS, received a bomb threat past 6 a.m.
Before 8 a.m., the campus of WVSU in Calinog town also got a bomb threat.
This was followed by bomb threats around 9 a.m. at Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), 10 a.m. at Hua Siong College of Iloilo, and 11 a.m. at Guimbal National High School in Guimbal town.
Bomb threats continued in the afternoon, beginning with the Iloilo Merchant Marine School in Pavia town before 2:30 p.m.
By 3 p.m., it was the turn of the Central Philippine University (CPU) and two separate campuses of Saint Therese-MTC College.
Last week, three schools and a shopping area received bomb threats.
Local officials, including Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas, Iloilo Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr., Iloilo first district Rep. Janette Garin, and Iloilo second district Rep. Lorenz Defensor urged the police to conduct further investigation.
Treñas announced that the Iloilo City government is offering a P100,000 reward for the perpetrators.
