Muntinlupa shoreline communities flooded due to rise in Laguna Lake water level
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said shoreline communities in the city continued to be flooded due to the rise in the water level in Laguna Lake.
He said based on the water level sensor of the Muntinlupa Department of Disaster Resilience and Management, the water level at Laguna Lake rose to 3.01 meters from the normal level of 1.3 meters despite the absence of rains.
The rise in water level was caused by Amihan that resulted in high tide in Muntinlupa.
He added, “Dahil dito, ang mga komunidad na nasa tabi at malapit sa lawa ay nagkakaroon ng baha (Because of this, communities along and near the lake are experiencing flooding).”
The Muntinlupa City government will be buying materials for the immediate construction of temporary footbridges in the affected communities.
In addition, the procurement of fabricated footbridges is included in the 2026 budget of the city government.
“Ito yung mga footbridges na reusable ng pangmatagalan. Sa ngayon, para mabilis makapag install, coco lumber muna ang gagamitin, mula sa emergency funds (These are footbridges that are reusable for the long term. For now, for quick installation, coco lumber will be used first, from emergency funds),” the mayor said.
