Formula 5 celebrates first year with a successful show
P-pop boy group Formula 5 celebrated their first anniversary with a bang at Viva Cafe in Araneta City recently.

"Having reached this far, it simply validates na yung ginagawa namin ay may pinupuntahan. (Reaching this point validates that our efforts are progressing)," said Frank Lloyd Mamaril, manager and one of the members of the musical group, during a recent interview.
Frank added, "For the longest time, we've been waiting for the opportunity na makilala kami, makapag perform kami sa iba't iban g stage. At heto na nga, sine-celebrate na namin ang first anniversary namin. (For the longest time, we've been waiting for the opportunity to make it to the music scene and to perform on different stages. And here we are, celebrating our first anniversary.)"
Other members of the group are Kirby Bas, Shone Ejusa, Kier, and Oliver Agustin.
During the concert, the group wowed their fans by performing their original and cover songs. The members shared highlights of their notable achievements in the entertainment industry.
"One of the highlights was the opportunity to perform in Filipino communities abroad, like South Korea and Taiwan," Kier said. "Very surreal ang pakiramdam na ma experience namin yun. Sobrang humbling po yung mga moment na yun. (It felt very surreal to experience that. Those moments were very humbling.)"
Shone also thanked the award-giving bodies that recognized their talents and efforts over the past year.
Kirby stated that the group was able to meet personalities they had only seen on television.
"Meron kaming mga learning from established people whom we've met in the industry. (We have learned from established people whom we've met in the industry)," he also said.
Since the group started in the music scene, Formula 5 has released 10 original songs. At their anniversary show, the boy group launched three songs: "Sa Darating Na Pasko," "Hangganan," sung by Direk Frank, and "Tina Ka," a Visayan song.
"Noong nag umpisa kami, may nagsabi sa akin na yung tunog daw namin is yung 90s group The New Formula. So ako dinagdagan ko naman. Tutal, lima naman kami so naging Formula Five," Frank recalled.
In describing their friendship, Frank said, "It's a bond na may isang goal at pangarap na gusto naming maabot. And then we realized kaya namin tulungan ang isa't isa para maabot ang mga pangarap. (It's a bond with a goal and a dream that we want to achieve. And then we realized we can help each other achieve our dreams.)"
"I give them opportunities not just in front of the camera but also behind the camera. Kami po ang bumuo ng production na ito. Gumagawa rin kami nevent sa labas kung saan ako rin po ang director. May writer ako, spinner, at stage manager. (I give them opportunities not just in front of the camera but also behind the camera. We built this production. We also do outside events where I am the director. I have a writer, a spinner, and a stage manager)," he added.
The group said more music can be expected from them in 2026.
