BACOLOD CITY – The body of a newborn baby boy was discovered on Aguinaldo St. in Barangay 1 here on Friday night, Nov. 14.
Police Major Eugene Tolentino, head of Police Station 2, said a passerby noticed the infant wrapped in a blanket, which still had visible bloodstains, and his umbilical cord remained attached.
Responders from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) examined the baby but found no signs of life, according to Tolentino.
The infant was brought to a funeral home, and barangay officials arranged his burial.
Tolentino noted that there were no closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the area that could help identify who abandoned the infant.
He added that police will check pregnant women in the community to identify the baby’s parents.
