Raymond Lauchengco stages Nov. 28 concert as he turns 60

Singer-actor Raymond Lauchengco turns 60 this month. The moment isn’t just a milestone for him, it's the perfect excuse to celebrate a life fully lived. On Nov. 28, the eve of his 60th birthday, he will hold his concert "Everybody Loves Raymond" at The Theatre at Solaire. The title, borrowed playfully from his favorite 1990s sitcom, reflects what he envisions as a night full of nostalgia and affection.

“Party with me as I turn into a senior Bagets!" Raymond laughs, referring to his breakout role in the 1980s teen film classic. “Now that I'm turning 60, I look back and I realize the most extraordinary thing about my life has been the people that God has put in it: my family, my friends, and every single audience member whom I have connected with through music."
The concert will debut Raymond’s new single "My Favorite Story," which he says is a love letter to the people who have shaped his journey. It's written by Odette Quesada - the same songwriter behind his timeless hits "I Need You Back" and "Farewell."
“I wanted to offer something as a gift,” Raymond said. “Instead of receiving gifts for my birthday, I wanted to give one back, a song that says thank you to everyone who has been part of my life. When you put together all those moments and stories, that’s what makes a life.”
Directed by his sister, veteran theater actress Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, with Marvin Querido as musical director, Raymond's concert promises a balance of music and memories. The guest list is nothing short of iconic, with the presence of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Ice Seguerra, and Mitch Valdes, plus another "heavyweight" as a surprise performer.
“I just got lucky,” he says with a smile. “To have artists I deeply admire like Sharon, Ice, and Mitch to celebrate with me... it feels surreal. It’s going to be a real party.”
Sharon’s presence, in particular, is enough to bring him on a sentimental journey.
“Well, you know, I don't have a Raymond Lauchengco if I don't have a Sharon Cuneta,” he pointed out. “She discovered me. She brought me from the world of theater to the world of movies and recording. That’s why last year when I celebrated my 40th year, it was so important to me that we had Sharon there because she’s the one who opened the doors for me.”
He recalled how Sharon, despite her busy schedule, still found a way to be part of his previous milestone celebration.
“Last year, she was touring with Gabby (Concepcion), so she couldn’t join us live. But she sacrificed one entire day to film and record her, even if she was taping with ABS-CBN. That became our interactive video,” he explained.
He added: “This year, again, I had a thick face and said, ‘Sharon, please, please, can you be there?’ And she goes, ‘Raymond, ayun, may tour na naman. Same thing with Gabby. But in case it doesn’t push through, I promise I will be there.’”
Raymond admits he had nearly given up hope. “Honestly, I thought it was impossible. Sharon Cuneta on tour? What are the chances that wouldn’t push through?” he laughs. “But God had a fantastic surprise for me. All of a sudden, her office reached out and said, ‘I will be here. I will be there for you, Raymond.’”
The reunion between the former co-stars will finally happen onstage this November. “Sharon and I will sing together live on Nov. 28,” Raymond beams. “It’s a dream come true.”

Beyond music, the evening also marks the official launch of Raymond’s first book, "Dance With the Wind," a collection of essays and artworks created through the years. The title comes from a short story he wrote during the pandemic, a parable about resilience.
“It’s about a tree that survives the storm because it learned to bend and sway,” he explains. “It’s a metaphor for life. We all face difficult winds, but if we learn to dance with them, we endure.”
The book, he says, grew out of a time of isolation. “During the pandemic, I turned to art and writing to stay grounded. I created sculptures, furniture, and essays - things that reminded me to keep moving forward.”
As he steps into his 60s, Raymond is full of humor and humility. “If this is what 60 is like, I’m loving it already. My wish is to get my senior card ASAP. It's exciting because there's no more falling in line and I get 20 percent off sa botika and restaurant," he quipped.
For Raymond, love is something one must give back. “Life has been generous to me,” he remarked. “This concert, this book, the new song are my way of saying thank you.”
Produced by Girlie Rodis’s Global Resource Creative Exchange, "Everybody Loves Raymond" will be held on Nov. 28, 2025, at The Theatre at Solaire.
