The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Saturday, November 15, announced the passing of Governor Rosa Rosal, a revered humanitarian and a pioneering figure in the country’s volunteer movement.
In a statement, the PRC expressed its “deepest sadness,” noting that Rosal dedicated more than seven decades of her life to the organization and to advancing humanitarian service nationwide.
For over 70 years, Rosal championed voluntary blood donation, strengthened the PRC’s welfare services, and consistently used her platform to promote compassion, volunteerism, and the protection of vulnerable communities.
Widely regarded as one of the most enduring symbols of public service in the Philippines, she inspired generations of volunteers and helped institutionalize lifesaving programs that continue to benefit millions.
“Gov. Rosal leaves behind a legacy of genuine service, dignity, and love for humanity — a legacy that will continue to guide the Philippine Red Cross and inspire generations of volunteers,” the organization said.
Details of her wake will be released once arrangements are finalized, PRC said.
