At least P1.7 million worth of health commodities have been delivered by the Department of Health (DOH) to the Catanduanes Provincial Health Office, the agency said on Saturday, Nov. 15, as part of its continuing support for typhoon-affected communities.
According to the agency, the assistance included hygiene kits, water containers, breastfeeding kits, water purification tablets, insecticide nets and screens, and various medicines.
“Matapos ito ng isinagawang masusing pagsusuri ng DOH–Bicol Center for Health Development, kasama ang Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Cluster, sa sitwasyon at kalagayan ng mga residente sa Camarines Norte matapos ang pananalasa ng Bagyong Uwan (This came after the DOH–Bicol Center for Health Development, together with the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Cluster, conducted a thorough assessment of the situation and condition of residents in Camarines Norte following the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan),” the DOH said.
The DOH said its interventions in the province included the establishment of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities to ensure access to safe and clean water for affected communities.
Also, the health department reported deploying Health Facility Enhancement Program teams to various locations across the province.
The DOH stated that it continues to monitor cases of injuries, waterborne diseases, and other health-related incidents in the affected areas.
