Iconic ad duo George Yang, Jose Mari Chan lead McDonald's push for child charity
The Christmas duet is back! Businessman George T. Yang and OPM icon Jose Mari Chan sing for a good cause at McDonald’s.
It just wouldn’t feel like Christmas in the Philippines without the music of Jose Mari Chan, and once again, McDonald's Philippines is tapping into that festive spirit—but this time, it’s all about giving back.
McDonald’s Philippines Chairman and Founder George T. Yang has reunited with the legendary OPM singer for the fast-food giant’s annual holiday campaign. And yes, for those who notice the resemblance, the duo who are often mistaken for lookalikes are back on screen together.
The new commercial, built on the theme that love grows when shared, is front and center for the Happy Meal’s charitable push this season. In the video, posted on McDonald’s social platforms, the two friends have a brief, familiar exchange: “What’s up, George?” asks Chan, followed by Yang’s reply, "What’s up? Our favorite time, Joe." They then break into a charming snippet of Chan’s holiday classic, "A Wish on Christmas Night."
This high-profile partnership is familiar to Filipino audiences; Yang and Chan have been long-time collaborators on McDonald’s holiday ads.
However, the real message is supporting kids in need through the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philippines, Inc. (RMHC). The core idea is simple: every Happy Meal purchase during the campaign directly helps fund RMHC initiatives, which provide developmental and educational support to children.
It’s a smart way to link national holiday nostalgia to a meaningful cause, ensuring that the country’s biggest Christmas personalities are also driving one of its biggest charity efforts this season.
