BIG packs of suspected shabu were seized from a couple in Palo, Leyte. (PDEA-7)
CEBU CITY – Packs of suspected shabu that were supposed to be delivered to Cebu were seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Guindapunan, Palo, Leyte on Friday night, Nov. 14.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) said the illegal drugs were seized from two live-in partners, who are both fruit vendors.
The suspects, aged 23 and 34, are from Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte. They had been renting a house in Guindapunan for a month before they were arrested.
According to PDEA-7 Regional Director Joel Plaza, the 2.1 kilos of shabu had an estimated value of P16.3 million.
The suspects were the alleged source of illegal drugs that are being sold in Central Visayas.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the PDEA-Region 8, Leyte Provincial Police Office, and Naval Forces Central.
Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7, the couple was monitored for a week before the arrest was made.
Alcantara said that based on the information, the suspects were capable of selling 10 kilos of shabu a week.
Follow-up investigation to identify the suspects’ cohorts is ongoing, said Alcantara.
