City Treasurer Marita Calaje and City Assessor Robert Mina led the Pasig City delegation in receiving the awards during the Stakeholders' Recognition on Nov. 5, which honored the top-performing LGUs for fiscal year 2024.
During the event, the city government received three awards out of the four performance indicator areas used as the basis for the recognition. These include:
• Top 4 city in Local Source Revenues – This recognizes Pasig’s strong capacity to collect local revenues (from taxes and fees), which is vital in strengthening the local economy and improving public services.
• Top 2 City in Ratio of Local Source Revenues to Total Current Operating Income – This signifies a high level of fiscal autonomy in Pasig. It means the city is less dependent on the National Tax Allocation (NTA) and is able to fund more projects and programs using its own locally generated revenues.
• Top 10 Highly-Urbanized City in Year-on-Year Growth in Local Source Revenues – This reflects the continuous growth and progress of Pasig’s local economy, and shows that the city’s reforms and improvements in revenue collection have consistently increased its annual income.
The city government said the recognitions affirm the continued trust of Pasigueños and other stakeholders.
“Ang mga parangal na ito ay hindi lamang tagumpay ng ating lungsod, kundi naging posible rin ito dahil sa maagap at wastong pagbabayad ng buwis ng ating mga mamamayan (These achievements are not only the triumph of the city but were made possible through the timely and proper payment of taxes by Pasigueños),” it said.
The Stakeholders' Recognition, held as part of the 38th Anniversary of the DOF-BLGF, aims to encourage local governments to continuously enhance revenue generation through effective collection strategies and innovative methods—while ensuring that these strategies comply with the Local Government Code and relevant policies and regulations, promoting best practices in local government finance.
