Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara on Friday, November 14, firmly denied allegations linking him to an alleged infrastructure kickback scheme, saying he has “never been involved in corruption” throughout his more than two decades in public service.
“We reject any insinuation made today that we were involved in anomalous projects,” Angara said in a statement. “In my 21 years in government, we have never been involved in corruption,” he added.
Angara issued the remarks after former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo accused him of receiving a supposed 12 percent cut from infrastructure projects allegedly facilitated through the DepEd chief’s supposed representative.
