Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., acting chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has met with top officials of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to discuss ongoing initiatives and future plans to strengthen cadet training, enhance faculty capability, and prepare future police officers for rapidly evolving security challenges.
PNPA director Police Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon and other academy officials presented proposals to Nartatez during his visit to the PNPA in Silang, Cavite on Wednesday, Nov. 12, to improve the academy’s educational system.
Nartatez underscored the importance of adapting to the fast-changing nature of crime, particularly with advancements in technology.
“The nature of the crimes we are dealing with are evolving and the enemies of peace and order are continuously innovating. We need to adapt, we need to evolve, and we need to always be at least two steps ahead if we want to succeed in preventing crimes and enforcing the law,” Nartatez said on Friday, Nov. 14.
He reiterated that improving police presence, response, and cybercrime defenses remains a priority under his leadership.
“Our cybercrime capabilities must be responsive and should adapt to the latest cyber threats and trends. We will prevent these crimes proactively by establishing mechanisms to address emerging threats swiftly,” he said, emphasizing the need to enhance the support system for law enforcement.
Nartatez said PNPA cadets represent the future of the police organization, thus they need to be equipped with modern policing knowledge, strategies, and innovative approaches.
He assured similar support for all training centers producing future police officers.
