ILOILO-based MORE Power personnel helps restore power lines in Negros Island damaged by typhoon ‘Tino.’
ILOILO CITY – MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) in this city has deployed personnel to augment power restoration efforts in Negros Island devastated by typhoon ‘’Tino.’’
A team was sent to help personnel of Negros Power Corp., a sister company that is a joint venture with Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO).
“We sent our line crews and engineers to Negros not because of a sister company, but because it is part of our culture as a distribution utility to bring light to communities in need,” said MORE Power Chief Operating Officer JM Zaporteza in a statement.
The team composed of 37 personnel was sent in two batches, with the first arriving on Nov. 7 and the second dispatched on Nov. 12.
Essential service vehicles, including a boom truck, a pick-up, and an L300 van, were also dispatched.
They were mainly assigned to Bacolod City and Bago City to expedite repair and restoration of damaged electrical poles and electrical lines.
This was the second time MORE Power augmented personnel in Negros after a disaster. In 2021, a team assisted CENECO in the aftermath of typhoon ‘’Odette.’’
MORE Power also sent an oil purification and regeneration machine to Negros to test power transformers.
