"Congressmeow" Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga has a "history of violence" that rarely gets brought up amid his social media stardom.
Thus, claimed House Deputy Speaker Antipolo City 1st district Rep. Ronaldo "Ronnie" Puno, who touched on the matter in an interview with House of Representatives reporters Thursday, Nov. 13.
In the interview, Puno--who has no love lost for the Dasmariñas solon--was asked to comment on the Criminal and Investigation Detection Group's (CIDG) filing of inciting to sedition and rebellion charges against Barzaga.
This was reportedly in connection with certain acts of violence during the Sept. 21 anti-corruption rally.
"Yung violence na sinasabi ng CIDG, kasi ang pagkaalam namin, may history talaga na ganyan (As to the violence that the CIDG is saying, as far as I know, there's really a history of it)," Puno said.
"May tatlong eskwelahan for example na mukhang napaalis siya. And ang rason sa bawat isa is medyo violence. May tinutukan ng baril, may tinutukan ng kutsilyo, parang ganon," Puno claimed.
(For example, he has been kicked out of three schools. And the reaaon for each one is violence, somewhat. There are incidents of gun and knife pointing, something like that.)
"So siguro mabuti na rin dinemanda siya ng CIDG kasi baka akala niya nakakatawa yun, di ba? Para madala naman siya na hindi tama yung tututok ka ng kahit ano sa ibang tao," he further said.
(So I guess it was good that the CIDG filed charges against him, perhaps he thought those actions were funny, right? This will make him think twice about pointing objects at other people, it's not right.)
Puno previously led the filing of an ethics complaint against the 27-year-old Barzaga for his supposed unparliamentary behavior. The deputy speaker said the next hearing on the ethics case will take place on Monday, Nov. 17.
Barzaga responds to Puno...kind of
The gen Z lawmaker would later respond to Puno using his field of expertise--rage-baiting on Facebook.
However, he opted to change the subject and tried to please his "posadog" audience instead of answering Puno's claims directly.
In a quote card also posted Thursday, Barzaga shared Puno's remarks and said, "History of violence? Paano naman yung libo-libong pinatay ni Marcos? (What about the thousands killed by Marcos?)"
Barzaga's response only garnered around 3,600 reactions, which was noticeably much lower than his other anti-administration posts.
