Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player Justin Brownlee has finally arrived in the country to join the national team’s preparations for the first window of the 2027 FIBA World Cup.
In a Facebook video uploaded by Ginebra boy’s ball-ballers that immediately made rounds on social media, Brownlee was seen arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport early Friday, Nov. 14.
The arrival of the 37-year-old forward came as a huge sigh of relief for Gilas and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas especially after Brownlee missed three games with Meralco in the East Asia Super League.
Brownlee was named to the Bolts lineup for the regional league, to be paired with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson but couldn’t arrive in time due to a case of pneumonia.
The veteran forward, though, should be fit to join the Gilas training, which begins on Nov. 18 when the PBA takes a three-week break.
The Nationals will be playing Guam first on the road on Nov. 28 and then at home at the Blue Eagles gym on Dec. 1.
