Marketing management is a broad field that encompasses most aspects of commerce—sales, advertising, distribution, and product development. And while anyone can run a business and engage in marketing, a degree from a trusted institution can give someone the edge needed in a competitive field.

Ma. Aurora Pastolero-David, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Marketing Management graduate of Centro Escolar University (CEU), found motivation in pursuing the degree because of her father’s experience. Her father works as a salesman but his career growth was limited by the lack of a diploma. “He always reminded me that formal education is the key to building a successful career,” she shares. Taking that to heart, she chose to pursue a degree to give her the competitive advantage to widen her career growth opportunities.

After graduating, she worked as a marketing associate for Megaworld and is now the senior manager for Special Projects and Business Development. She attributes her success to the university that “...shaped me into the professional I am today by instilling in me the values of excellence, integrity, and love for our nation,” adding that CEU’s commitment to academic rigor and ethical leadership pushes her to strive for the highest standards.

The roster of educators an institution has is a vital component in offering quality education. And this is what motivated a recent graduate of BSBA-Marketing Management, Julianna Mae Rosario, to choose CEU. After viewing the school’s website and weighing her options, she was convinced it was the right university. “Seeing the school’s long list of PhD professors reassured me that CEU prioritizes quality education, making me confident in my choice.”

Rosario is based in Dubai working in the automotive industry, one of her passions. As a sales coordinator at Auto Millenium-Audi Dubai branch, she manages sales processes, supports the team in achieving targets, and ensures smooth operations between different departments. She also leads a team, applying the lessons she learned both in and outside the classroom.

One such teacher is the dean of the School of Accountancy and Management, Dr. Rosemarie So, whose Strategic Management class was Rosario’s favorite. “It challenged me to think critically and apply real-world business strategies. The lessons were not just theoretical – they were true to life, teaching us how to analyze industries, make strategic decisions, and solve complex business problems.”

Both alumni credit CEU for the quality of the curriculum and how it prepared them for their careers. Pastolero-David appreciated her Total Quality Management subject and Operations Management classes, claiming that the curriculum helped her develop skills instrumental in her career growth. “Through rigorous academic training and real-world applications, I learned how to effectively plan, execute, and oversee projects, ensuring efficiency and successful outcomes.”

Quality facilities also improve learning conditions. Rosario shares, “Our classrooms were well-equipped for discussions and presentations, while the library and online databases gave us access to valuable marketing and business materials. What I found most useful were the case studies, group projects, and hands-on activities.”

Balancing academic learning and exposure to non-academic endeavors is critical in the development of university students. Together, they empower students with knowledge, skills, and critical thinking capacity to navigate the real world. For Rosario, being part of the university student council is among the highlights of her college experience, reminiscing about “the joy after organizing a successful event.”

Pastolero-David, meanwhile, served as a student assistant at the Dean's Office while being an officer in the University Student Council. “This experience helped me develop strong organizational abilities and the ability to work well under pressure.” She also credits the school’s annual “Business Week” event, which “promotes practical learning and fosters an entrepreneurial mindset.”

CEU even went the extra mile for her. Pastolero-David is grateful to the university for providing academic excellence and unwavering support during her financial struggles. She was endorsed for a Megaworld Foundation scholarship, which allowed her to continue her education.

Pastolero-David is a self-proclaimed “proud CEU alumna” who advocates for education and perseverance. “Education is a powerful agent of change—it opens doors, transforms lives, and creates opportunities for success. My journey, from overcoming financial struggles to becoming a professional, proves the impact of resilience and learning.”

For Rosario, as long as you’re farther than where you were before, you’re making progress – and that’s something to be proud of. She also wants to remind the students that “Success isn’t just about reaching the peak, but about the growth and progress you make along the way.”

CEU’s School of Accountancy and Management now offers Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in International Management designed to equip students with knowledge and skills in the three areas of business—management, marketing, and finance.
