The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed 1,254,157 family food packs to local government units (LGUs) affected by Typhoons Tino (Kalmaegi) and Uwan (Fung-wong).
In addition to food packs, the DSWD has also provided 24,072 boxes of ready-to-eat food and at least 31,000 non-food items to affected families, including stranded passengers and commuters in various ports.
“As soon as we received reports from the ground, our repacking centers and warehouses moved quickly to load, transport, and deliver FFPs (family food packs) to affected LGUs. We have surpassed the 1 million mark, but we are still sending augmentation support,” said DSWD Assistant Secretary and Disaster Response Management Group head Irene Dumlao.
She said the relief augmentation for Tino and Uwan is among the largest rapid deployments of goods by the department this year, benefiting communities across 17 regions.
The DSWD continues to respond to requests from LGUs for additional family food packs and non-food items.
Despite widespread flooding, landslides, and prolonged power outages in several provinces, Dumlao assured the public that the agency remains committed to delivering timely assistance.
The distribution effort is supported by the new Mechanized Production System implemented in major hubs in Luzon and the Visayas.
“Our teams and volunteers are working round-the-clock so that families can rely on timely assistance while they begin rebuilding their lives,” she said.
