ACIIA officially incorporated in the Philippines: Driving regional growth and innovation in internal auditing
The Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors Inc. (ACIIA) has officially been incorporated in the Philippines, marking a historic milestone for the internal audit profession in the Asia-Pacific region. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the Philippines granted ACIIA its Certificate of Incorporation on November 15, 2023, formally recognizing it as a non-stock, non-profit organization. Prior to this, ACIIA held its headquarters in Malaysia.
ACIIA is now poised to lead and unify the internal audit profession across 20 IIA affiliate countries in Asia. The IIA Affiliate members are IIA Australia, IIA Bangladesh, IIA Cambodia, IIA China, IIA Chinese Taiwan, IIA India, IIA Fiji, IIA Hong Kong, IIA India, IIA Japan, IIA Malaysia, IIA Mongolia, IIA New Zealand, IIA Philippines, IIA Saudi Arabia, IIA Singapore, IIA South Korea, IIA Sri Lanka, IIA Thailand, and IIA Vietnam. This strategic move consolidates ACIIA’s role as the regional voice of internal auditing, advocating for professional excellence, ethical standards, and governance maturity.

ACIIA is a regional body officially recognized by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Global), the global authority on internal audit standards and certification. As part of IIA’s global network, ACIIA plays a critical role in representing the interests of Asian IIA affiliates, contributing to international initiatives, and ensuring alignment with global standards and governance frameworks.

Regional Leadership and Advocacy: ACIIA now serves as a formal platform to represent the collective interests of internal auditors in Asia, engaging with IIA Global and other regional bodies to shape global standards and governance frameworks.
Professional Development and Collaboration: Through conferences, forums, and training programs such as the Sept 2025 International Conference in Kuala Lumpur, the March 2025 Chief Audit Executive Forum in Mumbai, and the June 2025 Banks & Financial Services Internal Audit Conference in Manila, ACIIA fosters knowledge exchange and capacity building among professionals.
CAE Risk in Focus Forum (Nov 20, 2025): A high-level roundtable for Chief Audit Executives to discuss emerging risks and share insights among internal audit leaders in the region.
Enhanced Standards and Practices: ACIIA plays a pivotal role in rolling out the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS), with active participation from IIA Philippines and other affiliates, ensuring consistent and high-quality audit practices across the region.
