House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III has expressed the 300-plus strong legislative chamber's sadness over the passing of long-time politician and public servant Juan Ponce Enrile on Thursday, Nov. 13.
"Nagdadalamhati ang Kapulungan ng mga Kinatawan sa pagpanaw ni Chief Presidential Legal Counsel at dating Senate President, Juan Ponce Enrile (The House of Representatives mourns the passing of Chief Presidential Legal Counsel and former Senate President, Juan Ponce Enrile)," Dy said in a statement on Thursday night.
Before this, Katrina Enrile confirmed the passing of her father at the age of 101 in a Facebook post.
"Manong Johnny, maraming salamat po sa inyong pag-alay ng buhay sa paglilingkod sa ating bayan. Hindi ka namin malilimutan (Manong Johnny, thank you for dedicating your life to serving our country. You will not be forgotten)," Dy said in his personal tribute to the late Enrile.
Based on his remarks, the Isabela 6th district congressman and the rest of the House held the former multi-term senator in very high regard.
Dy went on to describe the late Enrile as "a true leader and pillar of the nation".
"Aming pong pinagmamalaki si Manong Johnny at lubos na kinikilala ang kanyang mga sakripisyo na humubog sa ating bansa. Sa kanyang pagpanaw, nawalan tayo ng isang lingkod-bayan na naglaan ng mahigit limang dekada ng kanyang buhay para sa serbisyo publiko," he said.

"Aming pinaparating ang aming taimtim na pakikiramay sa buong pamilyang Enrile (We extend our sincere condolences to the entire Enrile family)," the House leader further said.
