Ginebra eyes back-to-back wins vs dangerous Converge

With their supposed game last Sunday, Nov. 9, suspended due to Typhoon Uwan, the Kings have more than a week of preparation against the dangerous FiberXers squad in their 7:30 p.m. affair.
Setting the table for the exciting duel is a clash between Magnolia and Blackwater – two teams raring to put their respective bids back on track at the end of their 5:15 p.m. showdown.
Ginebra is looking to string together its first win streak of the season after finally picking up its second win against NLEX last Nov. 2.
Primed to lead the charge for the wards of head coach Tim Cone are Japeth Aguilar and Scottie Thompson though they will surely need more contributions from the likes of RJ Abarrientos, Stephen Holt and Jeremiah Grey.
After opening the conference on a 1-3 record and against top contenders, the veteran mentor is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel though it cannot afford to be complacent against Converge.
“We were prepared mentally that we knew we might struggle early, and that our record may not be what we wanted it to be. Tonight we put a good one together. And if we continue to do that, maybe we can go on a little bit of a run, get back into the conference,” said Cone.
Now with the idea on how they would fare against championship-caliber teams, the FiberXers are looking to apply the lessons from their defeat to the San Miguel Beermen and the close win over the Bossing in their last two games.
“(We'll be up against) a champion team. No choice kailangan harapin kahit gaano sila kagaling. We have to prepare and make sure hindi nagmamadali sa opensa," said Converge head coach Dennis Pineda.
The deadly backcourt combination of Alec Stockton and super rookie Juan Gomez de Liano will be at the forefront of the attack for the FiberXers while the twin towers of Justin Arana and Justine Baltazar will be holding the fort inside the paint.
