Five NewJeans members return to ADOR after losing contract validity case
The five members of K-pop girl group NewJeans announced that they will be returning to ADOR, which happened after they lost in the contract validity case filed by their agency.
On Nov. 12, ADOR issued a statement that NewJeans members Haerin and Hyein will resume their activities under the agency.
“Haerin and Hyein of NewJeans have decided to continue their activities with ADOR,” the agency stated.
It added, “After thoughtful consideration with their respective families and thorough discussions with ADOR, the two members have decided to respect the court's latest ruling and adhere to their exclusive contract with the label.”
“ADOR is committed to providing its full support to Haerin and Hyein to ensure the seamless continuation of their artistic endeavors. We request the warm support from the fans and respectfully urge you to avoid engaging in unfounded speculation regarding the members,” it said.
After it came out, NewJeans members Minji, Hanni and Danielle issued their own statement to say that they too will return to ADOR.
“Hello, this is Minji, Hanni and Danielle. Recently, after careful discussion, we have decided to return to ADOR. One member is currently in Antarctica so the communication was delayed and since we have not heard back from ADOR, we have no choice but to release a separate position. We will continue to bring you heartfelt music and performances,” they said.
The new chapter in the ADOR-NewJeans saga came a year after NewJeans declared that they terminated their exclusive contract with ADOR, claiming the agency violated the terms.
In the ruling, the court rejected all claims made by NewJeans for the termination of their contract.
After the decision was handed down, NewJeans said they would not return to ADOR and would file an appeal.
The law firm representing NewJeans said, "The members respect the court's decision, but given the complete breakdown of trust with ADOR, it is impossible for them to return to ADOR and continue their normal entertainment activities. We hope the appellate court will comprehensively review the facts and the legal principles regarding the termination of their exclusive contract and render a wise ruling."
