The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Thursday, Nov. 13, mourned the passing of its Sorsogon-based colleague, Engineer Larry Reyes, and asked the public to respect the privacy of the family amid unverified reports circulating online.
In a statement, the DPWH said the entire department is grieving the loss of Reyes, who served as chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee of the Sorsogon First District Engineering Office.
“While there is much speculation and unverified reports on social media regarding circumstances, Engr. Reyes’ family has requested privacy and space to grieve away from public scrutiny, especially during this difficult time,” the agency said.
“This is a profoundly private and personal matter and not related to any of the agency’s issues,” the DPWH added.
The department said it remains focused on supporting the family and staff throughout this period of mourning.
The DPWH urged everyone to honor the family’s need for privacy and refrain from discussing or perpetuating unconfirmed reports.
“We thank you for your compassion and understanding,” the department said.
