The municipality of Gonzaga in Cagayan province mourned the death of former Sen. and chief presidential legal counsel Juan Ponce Enrile on Thursday afternoon.
In a Facebook statement, the LGU said:
“With profound sorrow, the people of Gonzaga, Cagayan mourn the passing of our Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, a proud Gonzaganian whose life and legacy brought great honor to our beloved town.
“Born and raised in our very soil, Senator Enrile’s remarkable journey from humble beginnings in Gonzaga to the halls of national and international prominence stands as a shining testament to the strength, wisdom, and resilience of our people.
“His lifelong service to the nation and his enduring influence on Philippine history will forever be remembered, while his deep roots in Gonzaga remain a lasting source of pride for every Gonzaganian.
“The LGU of Gonzaga, together with all Gonzaganians, extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
“May he rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire future generations of Gonzaganians to serve with courage, integrity, and love for our nation.”
