Though he has been absent for the past few Senate session days, Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has made his presence felt in social media, talking about his faith.
On Thursday, November 13 Dela Rosa shared two separate posts on his Facebook account, one showing him holding the statue of Santo Niño, and another photo of him with Father Cianno Ubod of the Compostela Parish Church in Cebu.
“My patron saint, my kabirthday always in January. Viva Pit Senior Santo Niño!” Dela Rosa said in the caption of his photo with the Santo Niño.
In his photo with Ubod, Dela Rosa said: “Times like these, we need to seek some guidance from our spiritual adviser. Thank you Father Ciano.”
Last week, Dela Rosa posted videos of himself helping typhoon-hit residents in Cebu, but none from his staff confirmed if he is still in the province.
Earlier, his legal counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon said they are aware of circulating reports claiming that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant against the senator.
However, he said they do not have independent confirmation as to whether or not the information is accurate but called on the public and the media to exercise caution and restraint in sharing or interpreting such reports until it is verified by the ICC itself or by competent authorities.
“If proven true, we trust that the Philippine Government will act in accordance with the rule of law, and that any such action shall first pass through the proper local judicial confirmation process consistent with our Constitution, due process, and the sovereign rights of the Republic of the Philippines,” Torreon had said in a statement.
