DAVAO CITY – Pwersa ng Pilipinong Pandagat party-list Rep. Harold Duterte led on Wednesday, Nov. 12, an outreach program in several barangays in Danao City, Cebu province and distributed 1,000 food packs to fisherfolk and their families as part of the party’s continuing support for coastal communities.
The lawmaker and his team distributed around 5,000 kilos of rice, repacked into 1,000 family food packs, to ensure equitable assistance for low-income households and those affected by recent calamities.
He thanked barangay officials and volunteers who helped organize the event.
Rep. Duterte also thanked Noel Morales, a local fisherfolk leader, and his members for contributing to the food supply during his first stop in Barangay Maslog.
The lawmaker reaffirmed PPP's commitment to advancing the welfare of small fisherfolk nationwide.
Barangay Taboc Chairman Dino Durano Sybico and his constituents welcomed Rep. Duterte and his team in the barangay. Their discussions centered on livelihood concerns, marine protection, and assistance for small-scale fishing operations affected by recent weather disturbances.
The outreach concluded on Duterte St., where the congressman was joined by Board Member Red Duterte, with residents attending the short dialogue highlighting PPP’s ongoing livelihood and maritime sector support initiatives.
Rep. Duterte said the primary goal of their visit was to extend assistance, uplift community morale, and strengthen ties between the government and coastal residents.
“Every fisherfolk is part of the fight for a more prosperous future. We are not here only during elections. We are here to listen, help, and engage,” Rep. Duterte said, emphasizing that everyone shares one sea, purpose, and heart as Filipino fisherfolk.
The outreach is part of PPP’s continuing program to support coastal communities across the Visayas and Mindanao.
The party-list advocates for the welfare of maritime workers, fisherfolk, and coastal residents through sustainable fishing, disaster preparedness, and livelihood development initiatives nationwide.
