MPD intensifies 'Oplan Disiplina' vs erring e-trikes, tricycles in Divisoria
The Manila Police District Station has intensified the implementation of “Oplan Disiplina” against undisciplined e-tricycle and tricycle drivers in Divisoria and Tondo areas, following numerous complaints from netizens about reckless behavior and traffic violations.
Under the leadership of Police Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Cruz, MPD Station 2 Commander, the operation aims to address persistent issues such as counterflowing and unruly driving, particularly along Dagupan Street and J. Luna Street in Divisoria.
The latest operations, supervised by Police Chief Master Sergeant Gerlie Tubera Bernales, Dagupan Outpost head, were conducted in coordination with the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB).
Several violators were apprehended, and their vehicles were impounded.
According to Lt. Col. Cruz, the initiative is part of their continuing efforts to maintain order and ensure smooth traffic flow along key roads within their area of responsibility, including Recto Avenue and surrounding streets.
He emphasized that PS2 personnel remain focused not only on crime prevention but also on traffic management to ease congestion in one of Manila’s busiest commercial districts.
The heightened enforcement follows the directive of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso for intensified police visibility and discipline in public spaces, especially as the Christmas season approaches.
His directive, supported by MPD District Director Police Brigadier General Arnold Abad, underscores the city government’s commitment to peace and order during the holiday rush.
Despite manpower challenges compared to the large number of people frequenting Divisoria, Lt. Col. Cruz assured the public that MPD PS2 continues to exert every effort to maintain safety, order, and discipline in the area.
The station also encouraged the public to continue reporting violations and other concerns through social media and direct coordination, assuring swift response and action under their “Bilis-Kilos” service initiative.
The MPD PS2 leadership reaffirmed its commitment to proactive policing and efficient public service in line with the programs of Mayor Domagoso and the directives of the MPD command.
